Interview with J-C Lecosse, Managing Director for the CNRFID

In operation since the autumn of 2008, the Centre National de Référence RFID has agreed to participate on the steering committee of the 2010 RFID exhibition. Why?

Even though the organisation is new, we have via the CNRFID network a complete overview of the players involved in a technology which will not stop expanding over time. It therefore seemed to us to be essential to meet the RFID professionals as soon as possible and to support any event that is dedicated to them.

As a result we have agreed to participate on the steering committee of RFID 2010 when Reed Expositions suggested it to us.

Do not forget that part of our mission is to work with suppliers in their involvement with the market and to manage the initiatives put forward by users, especially helping them to identify, within their processes, the scope for adding value brought by RFID.

Fréquentiel exhibits at RFID 2010

- Interview with Nicolas Jacquemin, Managing Director -

The RFID exhibition is one of the most important events in our activity. As a result of exhibiting in  2008 we were able to launch 5 new projects in very diverse activities such as healthcare, aerospace, transport and services. Networking at RFID is very useful. We meet client companies in RFID technology and decision makers in charge of projects who want to work with a specialist integrator and to be involved with all aspects of a project including equipment and software. It is an opportunity to have a first stage of information exchange, allowing us to find out the needs of our contacts and to give our initial response, before going on to the next stages and meetings

CST exhibits at RFID 2010

- Interview with Jérôme Mollet, Country Manager France, Spain, Portugal -

Following RFID 2008, we established contact with many new prospects. This proved a cost effective approach and will be renewed in March 2010.
Founded in 1992, CST has continuously consolidated its position as market leader both in the market and of the technologies of 3D electromagnetic fields simulation. Though, well known as we are to component manufacturers and traditional Hyper and RF equipment manufacturers, it is not the case with those involved in RFID. Recent and in constant evolution, this market is of interest to us. It poses new expectations from clients in terms of applications and from solutions suppliers who have come from areas far removed from radiofrequency technologies. The presence of CST at

RFID 2010 therefore has the aim of underlining our expertise in RFID
and to meet with RFID practitioners to present new versions of our CST STUDIO SUITE ( tm) tools with CST MICROWAVE STUDIO.
In the field of RFID, these tools play a direct part in the development of RF interfaces such as antennas and transmission/reception circuits, propagation media, effect of labelled products on RFID performance etc. The uniqueness of our approach is to make available to designers the solutions of tools that directly link the physical world of 3D EM and the electronic and functional world of RFID. The key concepts are electromagnetic and circuit code simulation together with the association of the main digital methods of EM calculation within the same environment.

Axem Technology exhibits at RFID 2010

- Interview with Philippe Mondon -

"As an RFID technologies showcase, RFID 2010 will again be the opportunity for AXEM Technology to reinforce its reputation and to enhance the visibility of its product offering.  AXEM Technology is a supplier of RFID material used by system integrators. The satisfactory commercial returns obtained from our first exhibition last year at RFID 2008 amply justifies us being present again in 2010. This year AXEM Technology will focus on innovations launched in 2009 and will unveil those that will go on sale in 2010. With both case studies and actual experiences, it is a way of promoting the value of our range of products which is both large and competitive and which at the service of solutions developed by our clients".

MAINtag exhibits at RFID 2010

- Interview with Bruno Loré -

"There is no way in the world that we would miss RFID 2010"

Dassault Aviation, Implanet, SNCF, Linpac Allibert and also Areva, Eurovia and Eiffage- many market leading companies will again be seen at the RFID exhibition.
This diversity again underlines the multisectorial character of the event and the high quality of its visitors. Every year, these meetings have opened an opportunity for applications and new contracts for MAINTag. Take the case of Linpac Allibert, the leading company in reusable packaging and products for storage, warehousing and related services related to distribution, automotive and a wide variety of industrial sectors: MAINTag has developed RFID tags for plastic boxes in challenging environments. For Implanet we have developed a solution that integrates the supply of RFID PDA’s, tags and readers to track medical body implants. Two examples among others… and therefore there is no way in the world that MAINTag will miss the next RFID 2010.
For our company, it is the certain knowledge that we will be meeting our customers and partners. A special moment too, to establish new contacts and have a complete view of what is on offer together with the needs and expectations of the market. As an example,  the views of the construction industry in the fight against building crime and subject to an agreement signed in February between the French Construction Federation (FFB), insurance and security and the Federation of Manufacturers, Integrators, Consultancies and RFID software (FILRFID). This is a huge market: the FFB has valued at 2 billion Euros the losses sustained from these thefts. In response, MAINTag will present at RFID 2010 a new antitheft solution. Based on a active RFID technology, it is based on a central terminal and equipped with materials with ultra hard tags, each one transmitting its unique identifier. Over a 200 sq. metre perimeter, this device allows the surveillance of a lot with materials and items emitting an alarm in the event of movement. Called LOCKBox, this solution is aimed at over 100 000 construction sites per year!
RFID 2010 will also be the chance for MAINTag to present its new hard tag for aerospace and rail applications together with informing our clients and partners of the opening of our new tag production factory at  Saint-Ouen l’Aumône.

PICDI exhibits at RFID 2010

- Interview with Bruno Baron -

As an RFID solutions integrator with strong expertise in traceability,  Picdi has been at RFID since 2007. For Picdi, this major industry event provides the perfect environment for meeting suppliers and clients and to establish new business contacts.

"The numerous contracts the company has signed in the last two years with decision makers we have met at the event demonstrates this. Some are the origin of partnerships that continue to this day. For example: the tracking system developed by D-Max, the removal company, to trace the movement of cartons between two sites with online GPRS information thanks to reading UHF tags on the boxes at each movement. This system is an added value service and allows D-Max to secure its activities and to stand out in a very competitive market."

At RFID 2010, Picdi will present other applications. From the industrial sector, the tracking of material maintenance and the identification of tools for the STX naval yard, building liners and large ships at Saint-Nazaire (a contact from RFID 2007). Completed in September after a year’s development, this solution follows 60 000 references used in ship construction. Linking STX subcontractors, its deployment guarantees the naval shipbuilder a global view of the location of its tools so as to optimise their management and limit any interruption of the manufacturing and assembly chains.  In food processing, Picdi will unveil work done for INRA in the area of geolocalisation and of analysis of avian behaviour.  .

"Together with our clients, two other applications will be presented: the first with Agriplas, a subsidiary of the Roullier Group, in the automated tracking of chemical product containers via tags and portals and the other carried out with SVA, the meat products subsidiary of Intermarche, in the field of tracking the whole logistics chain from production to shop delivery. For this second project Picdi was chosen with SVA (both members of the Cluster RFID Bretagne Développement) following the request for projects launched in mid 2009 by DGCIS as part of the IPER programme." This large scale demonstration which gets under way in the third quarter of 2009, should be well enough advanced to be part of a communication at RFID 2010.

On the products side, Picdi will also be making targeted communication regarding its new temperature chain tracking tags which are resistant to high temperatures.

RFID 2010 is therefore our shop window. This event allows us to show our knowledge and to promote actual applications that respond to the tracking and tracing needs of industry and service channels.

IRIS RFID exhibits at RFID 2010

- Interview with René Guichard -

“RFID 2010 is an important moment for IRIS-RFID- we will unveil a new range of fixed and mobile RFID readers which can be installed in commercial vehicles in order to track goods. These new tools can be integrated into a complete and perfectly adapted solution to the requirements of the transport and logistics sectors that we will also be showing at the exhibition. In addition, we will reveal for the first time the main features of our research programme which we are developing, financed by OSEO. We can say that this programme aims at creating an innovative material architecture with some surprising unique features. As an equipment manufacturer, IRIS-RFID stands out in the RFID market by virtue of our capacity to offer innovative material and software solutions which are unique and “customised”. Our ability to innovate is integral to our brand. It is the result of important and constant investment in research and development.
